A simple but delicious cake recipe is the Barbara cake:
For the batter, beat the eggs with the sugar, butter and lemon zest until fluffy.
Sift the flour with the cornflour and baking powder and fold into the egg mixture.
Pour the dough into a loaf pan (approx. 30 cm) lined with greased parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 175-200 degrees Celsius (gas: level 2-3) for 45 – 50 min.
For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with the lemon juice.
After baking, remove the cake from the pan and peel off the paper. Slowly pour the glaze over the hot Barbara cake and spread it on the surface. Finally, top with cherries.
