For the Kriecherl compote, first wash the Kriecherl and remove the seeds with a knife or a cherry corer. Cut the vanilla pod in half lengthwise and scrape out the pulp.
Bring the water and sugar to the boil. Add the Kriecherl, the cinnamon stick and the vanilla pulp including the pod and boil down for about 10 minutes. Remove the vanilla pod and either serve the Kriecherl compote immediately or fill it into clean, sealable glasses.
