The chicken chow mein is a dish developed in America, but its origin is in China, where it is often taken as a snack or light meal. Cut peppers in half, remove seeds and white inner walls. Cut into thin strips. Blanch in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove and drain.

Peel onion. Dice. Sauté lightly in the hot butter. Also sauté the cleaned celery, cut into pieces. Sprinkle with flour. Pour in hot chicken soup. Boil well. Season with soy sauce and pepper. Add drained peppers and now mushrooms. Now add the chicken breast cut into even pieces. Close the pot. Lightly simmer for 15 minutes.

During this time, cook the pasta in 1 1/2 liters. Lightly salted water for 15 minutes. Drain. Rinse with cold water. Set aside 1/3 of the pasta. Add the butter to the rest. Put in a suitable bowl. Cover with plate, keep warm.

Heat oil for frying. Cut the noodles into pieces – they must be completely drained. – Fry in oil until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper. Now pour the sauce with the chicken meat over the butter noodles. Spread the fried noodles and toasted almond kernels evenly on top. You can also offer the garnished noodles and chicken meat separately.
