For the apple pie, peel the apples, remove the core and cut the apples into wedges. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff.

Beat the yolks, powdered sugar, butter, vanilla sugar, lemon zest and rum until fluffy. Sift flour with baking powder and add to yolk mixture with milk.

Finally, fold in the beaten egg whites. Spread half of the dough on a baking tray lined with baking paper and place the baking wafers on top.

Brush the baking sheets with a little water and spread the remaining batter on top. Spread the apples cut into slices on top.

Bake the apple pie at 180 degrees until golden brown. (approx. 30 minutes)
