A simple but delicious cake recipe:

Short is the cherry season in Germany, and you have to enjoy the summer fruit as often as possible. A quick and easy recipe for a nice dessert with cherries is presented here by Mirko Reeh, who regularly stands at the stove on TV in “Koch was draus”.

For the dumplings, mix all the ingredients very well and leave to swell for about 15 minutes. Pour the dough one ladle at a time into a hot frying pan, spread it out very well and bake the dumplings on both sides for about one and a half minutes.

For the ragout, pit the cherries, put them in a saucepan and bring to the boil with the cherry brandy and red wine, then heat for 10 minutes at a low temperature. Season the ragout with a little sugar, then remove the cherries and thicken the liquid with a little cornstarch. Add cherries repeatedly and mix well.

To serve, dust the cakes with vanilla sugar.
