For the Swabian rolls, mix the ingredients into a short pastry and refrigerate. Roll out on a floured work surface, cut out any shapes and leave overnight. The next day, brush with egg yolk, sprinkle with almond kernels and hail sugar and bake the Swabian rolls for 15 minutes at 175 degrees.
