A cake recipe for all foodies:
Grease a cup cake pan (22 cm ø) and sprinkle with flaked almonds. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees.
Beat the egg whites with the salt and baking powder until stiff. Towards the end, sift in about half of the sugar and fold in thoroughly.
Mix the remaining sugar with the vanilla sugar and the flour and fold loosely into the beaten egg whites.
Pour the batter into the pan and bake the cake on the lowest rack for about 35 minutes.
Rest in the pan for a few minutes, then turn out onto a rack and cool under the pan.
