Heat the cheese, butter and Parmesan in a water bath, stirring occasionally, for 6-8 minutes until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and hot.

Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, put water on to boil and once boiling, season with salt. Make the gnocchi in batches for 2 min until they rise to the surface.

Drain the gnocchi with a slotted spoon. Spoon the sauce over the gnocchi. The dish can be garnished with oregano leaves or other fresh herbs.

Main dish more! The sauce can also be prepared directly on the stovetop without a water bath at low temperature.
