Drain and coarsely chop the capers and rinse the raisins. Roughly chop the pine nuts and dice the candied cherries. Next, stir the confectioners’ sugar with the flour and melt in a small saucepan. When slightly browned, add 120 ml of water and the vinegar and let the sugar melt. Then add the prepared ingredients and simmer gently at reduced temperature for 10 minutes.

Put the topping aside and let it cool down a little bit. Cut the ham into strips and stir into the lukewarm mixture. Toast the bread slices and spread with the finished syrupy amount and bring to the table.

Our tip: Use sweet red wine for a sweet note and rather dry wine for flavorful, spicy dishes.
