For grilled asparagus, heat the charcoal grill as usual. Prepare a bowl of ice water In a large enough pot, bring lightly salted water to a boil.

Meanwhile, wash the asparagus spears, trimming off woody ends if necessary. Boil asparagus for 3-4 minutes, depending on thickness, then rinse in ice water and dry well.

Brush the dry asparagus spears with olive oil, salt and grill on a hot grill for 2-4 minutes until lightly browned.
