For the marzipan cherry tart, coarsely grate two thirds of the marzipan. Cut the rest into cubes, or if the marzipan is very soft, it does not need to be grated! Drain the compote first and save some juice.

Alternatively, 600 grams of fresh cherries can be used. First melt the butter, then add the sugar and vanilla sugar and mix once with a mixer.

Then add the marzipan, flour, baking powder and eggs and mix well again. The marzipan should be well integrated into the mass. Finally, fold in the cherries.

Now pour the mixture into a greased 26 cm springform pan. Sprinkle the marzipan cubes decoratively on top, drizzle with a little cherry juice and sprinkle with another teaspoon or two of sugar.

Bake at 200 degrees in a preheated oven (approx. 45-60 minutes, test with chopsticks).
