Beat the egg whites with the whisk of a hand mixer until stiff, gradually adding the salt and powdered sugar. Fold in coconut flakes and 1 tbsp. vodka.
Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the wafers evenly on it. Using a small ice cream scoop (4 cm diameter) or 2 teaspoons, cut out 30 hemispheres from the meringue mixture. Place on the wafers and bake in the heated oven (electric oven 150 degrees – gas mark 1) on the bottom shelf for 25-30 minutes.
Place on a wire rack and cool. Heat the glaze in a water bath. Pour into a large enough bowl and mix in remaining vodka. Dip snowballs, drain on a wire rack and sprinkle with hail sugar. Set.
