For the Erdäpfel-Gröstl cook potatoes in steam, let cool a little, peel and cut into not too thin slices. Peel shallots and cut into fine strips.

Fry potato slices in clarified butter until golden, add shallots, season with salt, cumin and pepper and fry some more until everything has a nice color.
