Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Grease a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Press the still hot potato cubes through the potato press and let cool completely.

Cream the butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Fold in the eggs one at a time and mix thoroughly. Mix in the potato mixture. Sift the flour with baking powder and stir by tablespoonfuls into the butter mixture. Pour in the milk and fold in.

For the dark dough, take half of the basic dough and stir with cocoa powder and rum until smooth.

Pour half of the light dough into the prepared pan, spread the dark dough on top and cover it again with the rest of the light dough. Using a fork, “whisk” the two types of dough together in a spiral shape.

Bake the Gugelhupf for about 45 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
