For the marble ring cake, beat lukewarm butter with egg yolks and powdered sugar until creamy. Whip egg whites with sugar until creamy and gently fold into yolk mixture. Add sifted flour.

Pour a third of the amount into a large enough bowl and mix with the cocoa, rum and lemon zest. Grease a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with flour.

Pour in the light mixture first, then the dark mush and finish with the light mixture repeatedly. With a fork, draw circles in the dough for marbling. Bake the marbled ring cake in the oven at 160-170 °C for about 1-1/2 hours.
