For the banana marble muffins, coarsely chop the chocolate. Peel one banana, mash with a fork and mix in lemon juice.

Cream together shortening, sugar, salt and vanilla sugar with the whisk of a hand mixer. Stir in eggs one at a time.

Mix flour and baking powder and stir in alternately with 3 tablespoons milk. Divide dough in half, stir cocoa, 2 tablespoons milk and chocolate into one half.

Stir banana into the second half of the dough. Divide chocolate batter evenly into the wells (12 at a time) of a greased, floured muffin pan.

Spread banana batter evenly on top and marbleize with a small fork. Bake in a preheated oven (electric oven: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: level 2) for about 25 minutes.

Remove from the oven, place on a cooling rack and after approx. 30 minutes carefully release from the cavities, place on a cooling rack and allow to cool.

Just before serving, slice 1 banana. Top banana marble muffins with banana slices and decorate with chocolate sauce.
