Instructions:

For the almond butter cake, beat the butter with the sugar and add the yolks one by one.

Sift the flour with the baking powder and stir into the butter mixture.

Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter.

Spread the mixture on a greased, floured baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at about 200 °C for about 20 minutes, until the dough no longer sticks to your finger.

For the topping, heat the whipped cream and butter in a small saucepan, add the sliced almonds and sugar and bring to the boil briefly.

Spread on the pre-baked cake and bake again for about a quarter of an hour until the almond mixture has turned golden brown.

The almond butter cake is best served lukewarm.
