For the figs in red wine-honey, heat the red wine with the honey in an appropriately sized saucepan until the mixture begins to billow slightly.

Place the figs in the wine-honey mixture and bring to a boil.

Simmer with the lid on for about 10 minutes just until the figs are soft without falling apart.

Remove the figs, cool and cut in half. Cook the remaining cooking liquid until it begins to thicken. Be careful not to let the mixture burn.

Before serving, place the halved figs in the syrup and heat repeatedly.
