1. stir through mustard and vinegar. Season with salt, pepper and sugar. Whisk in oil until hearty.

Cut peppers into narrow strips, onion into fine rings.

Clean and rinse lettuce and drain well. Cut into strips or pluck into pieces. Cut cheese into sticks.

Arrange peppers, onion, cheese and lettuce on plates. Drizzle the marinade over the top. Serve with farmhouse bread.

Extra tips You can season the mustard dressing with a little fresh or dried dill.

This makes it spicier: Replace half the cheese with cubed blue cheese.
