These carnival cupcakes are the eye-catcher at any children’s party! With colorful sprinkles and a little marzipan, you can turn a delicious nougat cupcake into a funny monster cupcake that will make faces laugh.

First prepare the batter for the carnival cupcakes. To do this, beat butter, sugar and vanilla sugar with a hand mixer until fluffy. Add a pinch of salt to give the cupcake a delicate flavor.Beat the eggs and gradually stir them into the butter-sugar mixture. Stir in the milk as well.

Sift the flour with the baking powder and stir into the egg mixture until you have a smooth cupcake batter.

Place a muffin pan on a baking sheet. Line each well of the muffin tray with a paper cup. Divide the cupcake mixture evenly among the cups and bake in a preheated oven at 180° for 20-25 minutes. Let the cupcakes cool very well afterwards.

While the Fasching cupcakes are cooling, prepare the nougat topping. To do this, cream the cream cheese with the sugar until fluffy and gradually incorporate the nougat.

Fill the topping into a piping bag with a smooth nozzle and apply to the cupcake in the shape of a dome. For decoration, sprinkle only a part with colorful sprinkles and leave a part of the nougat topping free as a mouth (see photo). Form two eyes from marzipan and carefully place them on the topping. Place the Fasching cupcakes in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours before serving, until the topping has set.
