Season the pork steaks, roast three quarters in hot oil until done. Place in a baking dish, cover with ham and cheese and bake gently over high heat.
Meanwhile, for the apple roeschti, peel the apples, cut into quarters, slice and steam in a frying pan with butter and set aside.
Cut bread into small pieces, toast well with butter in the frying pan.
Add steamed apples, mix well and extinguish with apple juice (the Röschti must not be dry!). Fry lightly on one side, perhaps adding a little butter. Turn and bring to the table with the pork steaks.
