Cut the cabbage with the stalk into four quarters and fry well all around in oil or lard. Season with salt, pepper and a little caraway, add some soup and stew covered on the stove or in the oven for about 20 minutes until tender. Before serving, cut off the stalk and baste or lard the cabbage with hot lard.
