4 people is on the spot 20 cookies Crumble the yeast and mix into the lukewarm water. Put the flour and yeast water in a suitable bowl and prepare in detail. Knead in the melted honey, salt, butter and the mahlep. Cover and let rise for 3/4 hour at room temperature. Divide the dough into 20 on the spot pieces and roll into sausages. Using a skimmer, dip each cookie individually into the boiling water for 1/2 minute, then roll in egg yolk at the beginning and then in the sesame seeds. Turn on the oven to 175 degrees and bake the cookies in about 30 minutes until crispy brown.

There is also a variant in which black cumin is also used.

This only slightly sweet cookie is mainly offered during the Muslim Kandil holidays, hence the name.
