Line a loaf pan (20 x 25 cm) with baking paper.

Scrape out the pulp of a vanilla pod.

Put all the ingredients (including the scraped vanilla bean), except for the chocolate, in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Reduce the temperature and simmer for 10-12 minutes.

Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the chocolate.

Empty the mixture into the loaf pan and let cool for a couple of hours. (Overnight in the refrigerator is best).

Portion into pieces and wrap the candies in baking paper.
