For the baked asparagus with tomatoes and mozzarella, preheat the oven to 180 °C top and bottom heat. Wash and peel the asparagus, cut off the woody ends and place the spears next to each other in a shallow baking dish.

Mix the olive oil with the finely chopped herbs, the chopped garlic, salt, nutmeg, pepper, sugar and lemon juice and brush the asparagus with it.

Pour the tomato sauce over it and put it in the oven for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, dice the cocktail tomatoes and mozzarella. After the 30 minutes, spread the tomato and cheese cubes over the asparagus and put everything back in the oven for another 10-15 minutes.

It is best to poke the asparagus after 10 minutes to check if it is already soft enough. Serve the finished dish sprinkled with fresh basil.
