For the scones, preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom, baking soda and salt in the bowl of the food processor.
Place the cold butter in cubes on top of the flour. Let knead briefly with the food processor. The butter pieces will become smaller but must still remain visible.
Mix the egg and vanilla extract with the buttermilk and add to the flour mixture. Also add the raisins. Let knead briefly again, not too long because otherwise the scones will be too tough!
Then turn the dough out onto a floured work surface. Form a long roll. If the dough still sticks too much, add some more flour. Cut the roll into 8-10 even pieces and place on the baking sheet.
Bake in 15-20 minutes until cooked and golden brown. Let cool slightly on a cooling rack and serve while still lukewarm.
